Where Does Borealis Originate From?
Borealis was established in 1994 through the
merger of Statoil and Neste. Its name, derived from the Latin word “Borealis” meaning “from the north,” highlights the company’s origins in the Nordic region. The first headquarters were based in Copenhagen, Denmark, before Borealis expanded beyond its Nordic roots to become an international player with a strong presence in Central Europe and the Middle East. Since 2006, the company’s head office has been located in Vienna, Austria. The company serves customers in over 120 countries with a strong footprint of production plants, recycling facilities, and innovation centers across Europe, America, and Asia.
