Opti-Pren™ TPV 6816-40A
Opti-Pren™ TPV 6816-40A is a soft, colorable specialty thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) designed for applications requiring high flexibility and durability. Compared to standard 40 Shore A TPVs, this grade offers enhanced tensile strength, improved tear resistance and superior abrasion resistance. It is formulated to prevent oil exudation over time and is based on a polyolefin system, making it fully recyclable and suitable for processing on conventional thermoplastic equipment.
Key Features:
- Soft and highly flexible TPV grade
- Colorable for versatile design applications
- Improved tensile strength and tear resistance vs. standard 40A TPVs
- Superior abrasion resistance
- Formulated to prevent oil exudation over time
- Polyolefin-based and fully recyclable
- Shore A hardness: 40
- Low density: 0.89 g/cm³
Processing Form:
- Extrusion
- Injection molding
- Blow molding
- Thermoforming
- Vacuum forming
Processing Notes:
Drying is generally not required, but pre-drying for 2–3 hours at 80°C is recommended to improve surface finish and processing stability. Typical extrusion temperatures range from 175–190°C, while injection molding temperatures range from 190–210°C depending on the zone. This grade is incompatible with acetal and PVC; equipment must be thoroughly purged prior to processing these materials.
Purpose:
Abrasion Resistant
Application:
Opti-Pren™ TPV 6816-40A is suitable for soft-touch and flexible applications such as PP overmolding, handles, soft-touch buttons and linings, where durability, elasticity and abrasion resistance are required.
Hardness:
40A
Delivery Form:
Pellets
Opti-Pren TPV is Designed with Circularity in Mind
