Santoprene® TPV 8291-85TL
Santoprene TPV 8291-85TL is a hard, colorable specialty thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) in the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) family. It is formulated for multilayer constructions requiring strong bonding to textiles, metals, fluoroelastomers and polyamides. This grade of Santoprene TPV is shear-dependent and can be processed on conventional thermoplastics equipment for extrusion. It is polyolefin based and recyclable within the manufacturing stream.
Key Features:
- Designed for bonding to textiles, metals, fluoroelastomers and PA
- Suitable for multilayer and coextruded constructions
- High tensile strength with excellent elongation
- VW 50123 compliant
- Recyclable within the manufacturing stream
Processing Form:
- Extrusion
- Hose Extrusion
- Coextrusion
Processing Notes:
Desiccant drying for 4 hours at 70°C (160°F) is recommended. Santoprene TPV has a wide processing window from 185 to 260°C (365 to 500°F), depending on substrate conditions and residence time. It is incompatible with acetal and PVC. A high screw RPM (100–200) is recommended. Back pressure of 0.3–0.7 MPa may be used to ensure melt homogeneity, especially when processing masterbatches.
Applications:
Automotive, Building & Construction
Hardness:
86A
Delivery Form:
Pellets
