Estane® 54600 TPU

Estane 54600 is a 92A aromatic, polyester-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) developed for high-performance film and sheet production. It combines very good physical properties with strong chemical resistance and a wide processing window, making it well-suited for calendering and melt coating operations as well as flat die/cast film extrusion. Estane 54600 delivers high tensile strength, excellent elongation and strong tear resistance, supporting durable end-products where toughness and flexibility are required.

Key Features:

  • Aromatic polyester-based TPU
  • Hardness: 92 ± 3 Shore A
  • Very good physical properties and chemical resistance
  • Wide processing window for calendering
  • High tensile strength and elongation balance
  • Excellent tear strength (Graves & Trouser)
  • Low wear (Taber loss)

Processing Form:

  • Melt Coating / Calendering
  • Flat Die / Cast Film Extrusion

Processing Notes:
Drying is required prior to processing: 104°C (220°F) for 2–4 hours. A desiccant dryer is recommended with a target dew point of -40°C, and maximum moisture content should be 0.02%.

Recommended starting extrusion temperature profile: Zone 1: 171°C, Zone 2: 177°C, Zone 3: 182°C, Zone 4: 188°C, Adapter: 193°C, Die zones: 193°C. Suggested melt temperature mid-range: 191°C, with a screen pack recommendation of 20/40/80.
